Make a claim

When you buy insurance with gadgetbuddy.com, you may not think about having to make a claim. But the good news is that if something goes wrong, our friendly staff will be on hand to help you.

Before your claim can be approved, you must pay the excess. The excess for each gadget type can be found in the policy wording. If the terms are not adhered to, then your claim may not be paid or paid in full.

What you'll need to make a claim

To get the claims process under way you will need to call Trent-Services on 01285 626020.

  1. First you will need to have your personal details to hand so that we can retrieve your information from our systems.
  2. You will also need the reference number which was provided with your gadgetbuddy.com insurance certificate.
  3. You will also need the original purchase receipt covering the gadget in question.
  4. We will also ask you to provide us with a brief explanation of the circumstances of your claim, as well as the crime reference number supplied by the police if applicable.

If your device is stole, lost or damaged maliciously by a third party, it is essential that you report this to the police. And if your smartphone has gone missing, remember to let your network provider know so that no fraudulent usage can occur. We will send you a claims form in the post which you must complete and return to us, remembering to include the receipt for the gadget.

Updating your policy

There are many reasons why you may need to update your policy, for example you may...

  • have moved to a new address
  • upgraded to a new device; or
  • wish to alter any of your existing details

You will need to update your policy when your circumstances change. This ensures that we have accurate information about you and can deal with any claims quickly in the future.

Cancelling your policy

If you are an existing customer then you have the option to cancel your insurance policy at any time.

Changed your mind?

You may have purchased insurance with gadgetbuddy.com only to change your mind about your need for cover. If this is the case, we’ll be sorry to see you go but will do our best to make sure that the process of cancellation is not too time-consuming. The good news is that there is a 14 day cooling-off period at the start of your policy. During this time you can cancel it without providing a reason and we will give you a full refund, provided that you have not made any claims.

If the cooling off period has ended

Even if this 14 day deadline has passed, you can still cancel your policy if you wish. If you pay a monthly premium there will be no refund because your cover has been provided on a rolling basis and you were protected for the duration of your policy up to the point at which you decided to cancel. If, on the other hand, you bought cover on a yearly basis then we will calculate a proportionate refund of the annual premium as long as no claim has been made.
